MOUNT WASHINGTON " A Mount Washington man was arrested Thursday on child sexual abuse charges that allegedly occurred two years ago.
Mount Washington Police Det. Buddy Stump arrested 32-year-old Michael A. Fortner of Emma Court with a warrant claiming Fortner had inappropriate sexual contact with a female minor under 12 years old.
Stump said the child was seven at the time of the alleged incident. He said the victim told her mother about the incident recently, prompting the mother to contact police.
Stump said the victim had spent considerable time in Fortner’s residence. However, he said the incident appeared to be isolated.
“It doesn’t appear that it was ongoing,” Stump said.
He added that no other victims were suspected.
Fortner is charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a child under 12 years of age and is being held at the Bullitt County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
First-degree sexual abuse of a child under 12 is a class C felony, punishable by five to ten years in prison.
Fortner’s probable cause hearing is scheduled for Bullitt District Court Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
