Man indicted on forgery, theft charges

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - An investigation by the Shepherdsville Police Department has resulted in the indictment of John M. Kerger, w/m 33, of Shepherdsville, on multiple counts of Forgery 2nd, multiple counts of Theft by Deception over $500.00 and under $500.00, fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, and Theft of Identity.

    "Mr. Kerger is accused of depositing bad checks into his stepson’s bank account, then passing himself off on multiple occasions as his stepson to withdraw the money before the checks came back with insufficient funds," said SPD Sgt. Jeremy Meyer. "(Kerger) is also accused of taking his stepson’s debit card without permission and using it to obtain cash as well. These offenses occurred in April and May. The total amount taken from his stepson was over $4500.00 prior to be caught."
