SHEPHERDSVILLE - A 63-year-old Bullitt County man has been indicted for alleged sexual offenses dating back to 2001 and a conviction could result in him serving 20 years to life in prison.
John William Orkies has been indicted by the Bullitt County Grand Jury on a series of felony counts.
According to the indictment, Orkies allegedly had sexual intercourse with a female less than 12 years of age from June 2001 through June 2006. During the same period of time, Orkies has been charged with having deviate sexual relations with the minor.
Both of these are Class A felonies punishable by 20 years to life in prison.
From June 2006-2008, Orkies faces the same charges with a female less than 14 years of age. These charges are Class C felonies punishable by 5-10 years in prison.
He is also facing charges of incest, which also range from a Class B felony, punishable by 10-20 years, and a Class A felony.
Det. Scotty McGaha of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case.
Orkies remains in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
In other sex-related indictments:
*Ricky Allen Young - charged with rape, sodomy and intimidating a participant in a legal process.
According to the indictment, Young, 45, of Shepherdsville, allegedly forced a female to have sexual intercourse on Feb. 24, 2011. This also included deviate sexual acts.
Both of these allegations are Class B felonies punishable by 10-20 years in prison.
He allegedly tried to influence the victim’s testimony.
Det. George Jetter of the Shepherdsville Police Department investigated the case.
*Larry Leon Martin Jr. - charged with two counts of rape, three counts of sodomy and being a persistent felony offender.
Martin, 40, of Shepherdsville, allegedly forced an individual to have sexual intercourse on two occasions from Sept. 7, 2009, through Dec. 6, 2010.
During that period, he allegedly forced that individual to have deviate sex on at least three occasions. Those are Class B felonies punishable by 10-20 years in prison.
