SALEM, Ind. - Since 1950 the third Saturday in May has been designated as Armed Forces Day in honor of Americans serving in the U.S. military.
Salem Speedway will offer a special salute to our nation’s military personnel as part of the upcoming Casey’s General Store Spring Speed Fest presented by Salem True Value Hardware.
“We’re honored to have the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines associated with the May 19th race,” said Salem Speedway general manager Richard Deaton. “We all owe a deep sense of gratitude to these brave young Americans.”
Interactive military displays and giveaways will be part of the festivities on May 19th, which will include the Marines “Pull Up Challenge” and the Army “Rock Wall Climb”. The Air Force is scheduled to have video games on display and a football toss, while the Navy will have various giveaway items available.
A military color guard will present the National Colors before the start of racing action.
The night of family-fun will be topped off with a gigantic fireworks show following the final race of the evening.
Salem Speedway is offering free admission to the Casey’s General Store Spring Speed Fest to all currently active U.S. military personnel.
The Casey’s General Store Spring Speed Fest presented by Salem True Value Hardware features three exciting divisions – the Lucas Oil Great American Stocks, O’Reilly Auto Parts Pure Stocks and Portland Recycling Front Wheel Drive Stocks – plus the second annual wild and wacky “Faster Pastor Race”.
