SHEPHERDSVILLE -Bullitt County residents will get a chance to take a spin through decades of music at the first “Music Memories in the Park” on Saturday, Aug. 31.
Judy Joy Nevitt, one of the coordinators of the event, said the event will feature songs from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s and more.
The event will be held in the Shepherdsville City Park on First Street.
“People are going to hear some of their favorite oldies songs up until today,” she said.
Nevitt said the council wanted to give families one last summer event for children before they get into the full swing of school again.
The event is sponsored by the Bullitt County Arts Council music department will start at 10 a.m. at the city park.
Nevitt said they will play until people leave. Admission is free.
Guests are invited to bring blankets, chairs or tents.
She said no alcohol will be permitted and the event will be cancelled if it rains.
Nevitt, who has been involved with music for her whole life, said the idea came to her and she thought it could be a good family-friendly event.
A variety of live singers and bands will perform at the show. Confimed acts include the winners from the Bullitt County Vocalists of the Year competition, Pat Portman and a gospel group called SoulShine.
The old fashioned ice cream truck and other vendors will also be at the event, she said.
Nevitt said people may also bring a table to set up a yard sale at the event if they’d like to, but they need to contact her first at 773-6116.
Co-organizer Donna Burke can also be contacted for more information or to rent a space at 489-7116. It will be $10 to rent the space.
Vendors can also rent a space for $20. These fees will go to the Bullitt County Arts Council.
