MOUNT WASHINGTON - When city council members were recently presented with a $3.5 million General Fund budget for the upcoming 2010-1011 fiscal year, it may have appeared there wasn’t much room for change.
But after city officials heard from department heads and juggled some numbers during a recent budget meeting, they managed to not only produce a balanced budget and keep most department funding intact, they also doubled street maintenance funding and increased city employee pay raises from 3 percent to 5 percent.
