MW resident dies in two-vehicle accident near Old Mill Elementary

 Shepherdsville Police Department is continuing an investigation of a fatal accident that occurred on Highway 44 East in Mount Washington Monday morning.

Phyllis Jarrett, 71, of Mount Washington, died Monday evening at University of Louisville Hospital from injuries.

SPD is investigating and reconstructing the accident scene at the request of the Mount Washington Police Department.

On Monday Bullitt County Dispatch reported a three-car accident at 11540 Highway 44E, near Old Mill Elementary, at approximately 11:23 a.m.

Mount Washington Police and Fire units responded to the scene, assisted by Hillview Police and Bullitt County EMS units.

According to a collision investigation report released by SPD Sgt. Mike O'Donnell, Jarrett's vehicle was headed eastbound when it veered off the south side of the roadway.

The report said Jarrett's vehicle re-entered the roadway, crossing the center line and striking a westbound vehicle operated by Franklin Owen of Taylorsville.

Jarrett was transported via Air Methods helicopter to University. Owen was not transported.

Highway 44 E was closed to traffic for four hours following the accident.
