LOUISVILLE - The 54th Annual National Quartet Convention kicks off on Sunday evening in Louisville at the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center.
The event is expected to bring more than 40,000 people to the city for Southern Gospel Music’s largest event. A Sunday evening concert serves as the official kick-off for the week, as The Hoppers, The Booth Brothers and Greater Vision (pictured in attached jpg) will be featured in a 6:00pm concert in East Hall.
This year’s Convention, which runs from September 11 through 17, features the best recording artists in the world of traditional, harmony-oriented Southern Gospel Music. This year over 500 exhibitors will be on display in an exposition spanning 175,000 square feet on the grounds of the KFEC.
In addition to the great music featured during daily and evening concerts, the event will also feature prominent keynote speakers, including Dr David Jeremiah, Dr Charles Stanley, and former Attorney General John Ashcroft, who will speak on Thursday morning, September 15 at 10:30am in the East Hall of the KFEC.“In addition to speaking about the importance he places on his Christian faith in his daily life, General Ashcroft will also be singing several Gospel songs he has written, accompanied by Greater Vision,” National Quartet Convention Executive Vice President, Clarke Beasley states. Beasley also indicated that following the 10:30am session, those attending the event will have the opportunity to meet and visit with Ashcroft.
Other special highlights on Thursday include the 3rd Annual NQC Cancer Walk to benefit the American Cancer Society at 8:00am, as well as the Grammy Award winning Gaither Vocal Band Reunion concert, scheduled for 1:15pm in Freedom Hall.
