HEBRON ESTATES - The North Bullitt Lady Eagles are still looking for the first win of the 2011 season after the first two weeks of the regular seaso, but veteran head coach Eric Lambert said he saw his team play much better in some games last week, including a 2-1 loss to Male that could just as easily have gone in the victory column.
“That was far and away our best game of the year,” Lambert said earlier this week. “Defensively we played great except for a few errors. We had two outs there and had a throw pull the first baseman off the bag and then another error and they scored twice.”
That loss came after the team suffered a 7-0 loss to North Hardin on Tuesday of last week. That was a day after Bullitt East had sneaked by the Lady Trojans 2-1.
After the two regular season games, the Lady Eagles headed south to Memphis, Tennesse for a spring break tournament. The first game started just a short time after the players got off the bus.
North Bullitt jumped out to a 4-0 lead on Bolton County (TN.), but then lost 5-4 as the time limit cut the game short.
That loss took something out of the young team as they then lost 15-0 to a powerful Chester County (TN.) squad that is one of the top teams in that state.
On Saturday, North Bullitt then lost to St. Benedict (TN.) by a 10-4 count before leaving the tournament with a 9-3 setback to Tifton Academy (TN.).
That action left the Lady Eagles with a 0-8 record.
