MOUNT WASHINGTON--Need a stitch? Mount Washington’s newest monogram boutique, Cordial Lee, can help with you that.

The shop, which recently opened, is located at 611 North Bardstown Road next to Papa John’s and Club Fitness.

It sells items such as shirts, stadium seats and Easter baskets which can all be customized in the backroom on one of their machines. All prices include the cost of the embroidery, said owner Shelby Packer who owns the business with her husband Steve.

“If people don’t want it embroidered then we take 10 percent off the item,” she said. Customers will have a chance to choose the font, size and color to personalize their item.

The store also offers embroidery for items patrons want to bring in.

Packer said business has been good since the opening and she hopes it continues.

The Mount Washington resident  said she originally began the business in 2004 as an online store selling custom invitations, but decided expand after their customized embroidery section took off.

“We found this was our niche,” she said.

Packer said the business, which they were running it out of their house in 2008, has always been family-oriented, but as it “grew, grew and grew” they knew they would need more space. She said they receive orders for their products from countries all over the world.

“We wanted to keep it in our hometown,“ she said. All of my employees are also moms who live in Mount Washington. It’s really important to me.”

But the business is about more than just thread though. They also carry monogram jewelry and home décor.

Packer said she’s done it all-- from creating a toilet decal to embroidering a golf bag.

She said she came up with the idea for the name of the store because Lee is her middle name and they wanted something “inviting.”

The business is open Tuesday,Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. For more information visit their Facebook page or at www.cordiallee.com.
