LOUISVILLE - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) announces activation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of KY 61 (Preston Highway) and the newly constructed Beech Grove Road Bypass in Bullitt County.

The signal is currently on flash in an effort to make motorists aware of the new traffic conditions.

The signal will be tested and timing adjusted this week.  Weather permitting, traffic engineers plan to change the signal from flash to normal operations the week of Dec. 18.

Construction on the Beech Grove Road Bypass began in May and paving of the final asphalt surface should also be completed next week. Once paving is complete, traffic will be shifted from KY 1494 (Beech Grove Road) to the new bypass.

Louisville Paving Company was awarded this contract in amount of $1.99 million. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2017.

The date and duration of this work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur.  Visit goky.ky.gov for the latest in traffic and travel information in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
