North-Central baseball game moved to North; Softball at BC, Monday Rain-outs

SHEPHERDSVILLE - Because of continued drainage problems with their new field, Bullitt Central has been forced to move Wednesday’s district showdown with North Bullitt to the Eagles’ home field.

Bullitt Central has yet to play a game on the new field. Games the first week of the season had already been changed to away games and then the Cougars played in the Valley Invitational over spring break. It was hoped they could play at home this week, but at this point it will take at least two days of no rain before the team can play at home.

A game on Monday against Southern, which was supposed to be played at home, was postponed due to poor weather. That game has been moved to Wednesday, April 22.

The game with North Bullitt on Wednesday will now be played starting at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday in hopes of playing at least a five-inning freshman game after the varsity contest.

Softball at BC

The Bullitt Central Lady Cougars have been able to play on their new home field and the first ‘big’ game on the new surface will hopefully be played on Wednesday when the Lady Cougars play host to district rival North Bullitt.

The two teams were supposed to play last Tuesday, but heavy rain that afternoon washed out those plans. The game will now be played on Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. on the new field located behind Riverview High School.

Monday Rain-outs

Rain and very cold conditions cancelled all high school sporting events on Monday of this week. That meant the postponement of two 24th District baseball games. Bullitt Central was supposed to host Southern while Fairdale was going to travel to Mount Washington to take on Bullitt East.

The district baseball schedule has a built-in make-up date on Wednesday, April 22 and those two games will now be moved to that date. Unless there is rain early that week, Bullitt East will have to cancel or move a game with Oldham County because KHSAA rules do not allow teams to play Monday through Thursday during a regular school week without a day off.

Bullitt East is already set to play Bullitt Central on Monday of that week along with three games in the Louisville Invitational Tournament on Thursday through Saturday.
