At approximately 10:05 EST KSP received a complaint from the 3000 block of Wooldridge Ferry Rd. of a possible active kidnapping. Troopers responded to the scene and spoke with a female who alleged that she and her three minor children were abducted at knife point earlier in the night.
The female complainant told Troopers that she managed to get out of her vehicle (2006 Dodge Van) and get to a residence to call for help but the alleged perpetrator had left with her three small children. A short time later a Trooper observed the vehicle in question pass the residence. The Trooper then attempted to catch up with the van allegedly containing the children.
As the Trooper caught up with the vehicle just before the intersection of Wooldridge Ferry Rd. and Ky. 313, he activated his emergency equipment and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle then turned South on Ky. 313 and went a short distance before crossing the center line and striking a 2005 Jeep Liberty that was being operated by Ashlee Berry (22) of Radcliff, Ky.
Ms. Berry’s vehicle then rolled down an embankment on the East side of the roadway. Ms. Berry was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin Co. Coroner.
The operator of the Dodge Caravan, Kyle David Thompson (24) of Vine Grove, Ky., and three minor children were also injured in the crash. Kyle David Thompson was transported by Hardin Co. EMS to the University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries. He was placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant for Failure To Comply With The Sex Offender Registry. Any other pending charges will be presented to a Grand Jury at a later date.
The three juveniles were airlifted to Kosair Childrens Hospital and remain in critical condition.
Ky. 313 was shut down for several hours while KSP Troopers reconstructed the accident.
KSP was assisted on the scene by the Hardin Co. EMS, Radcliff Fire Dept., Radcliff Police Dept., Central Hardin Fire Dept., Hardin Co. Coroners Office, and Air Methods
