Opportunity to get rid of household chemicals this week

 CLERMONT - For the first time, Bullitt Countians will have an opportunity to get rid of household hazardous waste.

The collection will be done at the Bullitt County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Oct. 5, starting at 8 a.m.

Solid Waste coordinator Larry Hatfield said the collection site will remain open as long as the sate Division of Waste Management grant of $22,000 will last.

This is for Bullitt County residents and it now open to commercial enterprises. You must bring a driver’s license proving your residency.

Items accepted include household cleaners, bleach, nail polish and remoers, ligher fluid, oil-based paints, drain cleaners, wax, auto batteries, dry cell batteries, car waxes, lawn and pool chemicals.

Items NOT accepted will include tires, televisions, used motor oil, latex paint, radioactive or biohazardous material or items with freon.

The fairgrounds is located at Highway 245 at Interstate 65 in Clermont.
