SHEPHERSVILLE - The Outstanding Farm Bureau Youth Contest will be held in Bullitt County on Sept. 17.
Contestants must be 15 years old, but not have reached 19 years old by Jan. 1, 2012.
They must be a member of Bullitt County Farm Bureau and must submit a contest application, along with a certified copy of school grades for the past two years.
The two areas of competition are a personal interview (behind closed doors) and a 2-minute prepared speech related to agriculture or Farm Bureau (this is in front of the audience).
The winner has a possibility of receiving a $2,000 scholarship, luggage, a watch, and a trip to Washington D. C. for the Kentucky Farm Bureau Congressional Tour if they are Kentucky Farm Bureau State winner. There will also be a monetary award at the County level and at the District level.
The Variety Contest will be held the same evening. Contestants must be 6 years old, but not have reached 19 years old, by January 1, 2012. They must be a member of the Bullitt County Farm Bureau (for group acts, 50% of the group members must meet this requirement). You will need to submit an application.
The acts may be in any performance area-vocal, instrumental, dance, or drama. There will be a monetary award at the county level as well as at the District level. At the Kentucky Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in December, each act that has advanced to this level is awarded money at the conclusion of the program.
