SHEPHERDSVILLE - The names and Social Security numbers of over 600 Bullitt County school system employees were mistakenly distributed to over 1,800 e-mail addresses of fellow workers on Tuesday morning.
All employees were given the notice of the 676 employees who had not completed their open enrollment information for health insurance for the coming year.
According to the school system, 737 of the 1,829 messages were recalled. All electronic messages were accounted for as of Tuesday morning.
By law, the information breach must be communicated with each affected employee and that was being done by first class mail.
Superintendent Keith Davis said it was a human error and that the letters would advise employees what to do to protect themselves against any possible fraudulent use of the information.
