PIONEER VILLAGE - In an effort to reduce accidents and citations for violations, the Pioneer Village Police Department has created an interesting reminder to motorists.
At the corner of Preston Highway and John Harper Highway, a wrecked vehicle has been placed along the side of the road.
The project is a partnership with the state transportation cabinet, which owns the property.
Pioneer Village police chief Dale Elliott said the wrecked vehicle was donated by Troy’s Wrecker Service and Sign Solutions II donated the banner.
The display is an effort to make motorists more conscious of their driving habits, especially during the holiday season, said Elliott.
He said there was no better way to do that than to show them a picture of a wrecked vehicle.
As a member of the National Guard, Elliott said similar displays have been effective at U.S. military bases.
He hopes this will decrease accidents and fatal accidents this season.
