HILLVIEW - On Tuesday July 28, 2009, Sharon Hand and Melissa Guerrieri of the Camp Quality Quillow project in Hillview made their annual trip to Camp Quality of Kentucky. Camp is located in the Camp Loucoon section of Nolin Lake.
With the help of friends, family members and two local quilt groups (Mount Washington Quilting Bees and Heart N Hand), they had enough quillows for the approximately 65 campers this year.
Camp Quality is a Camp for Children ages 6- 16 with cancer, and it is a camp where the children just get to be kids again.
The quillows are delivered on the night that Cowboys For Kids and Riders for kids host dinner for the camp.
These two groups help raise money to support the camp and campers throughout the year.
Camp Quality Quillow Project has been going strong for three years now with the help of local quilt groups -- Mount Washington Quilting Bees and Heart N Hand but is always looking for independent quilters as well as anyone wanting to donate, fabric, batting or anything else of use.
We are always more than willing to teach someone how to make a quillow for anyone that would like to help but does not normally sew.
If you are interested in helping please contact, Sharon Hand of the Camp Quality Quillow Project @ P.O. Box 333 Hillview, Ky. 40129.
Thanks to all who made 2009 a success and are already hard at work for 2010.
