SHEPHERDSVILLE -- With the funding cuts from federal and state agencies, Bullitt County school officials are always looking for additional revenue.

One avenue in past years has been the refinancing of previous bond issues for construction projects.

Recently, the Bullitt County Public School Board, through its finance corporation, had an opportunity to save money.

The 2009 Build America bond issue, which was used to build schools, renovate others and provide energy savings projects, will be refinanced.

The bonds will remain the same length but will save the district $2.9 million by the time they a paid off. This will result in an annual savings of $147,000.
