SHEPHERDSVILLE - No one ever said you had to be a brain surgeon to be a criminal.

However, one might question why a person would break into a home when a police car was sitting in the driveway.

According to Shepherdsville Capt. Ken Bernardi, Richard A. Hill, 50, allegedly broke into the home of Hillview police officer Sgt. Ken Straughn.

Bernardi said that Hill worked past Straughn’s marked cruiser Tuesday night at his home in Shepherdsville.

Once inside, Hill allegedly refused to leave after he was confronted by Straughn and his family.

A struggle ensued and the home was damaged. No one was injured.

Hill has been charged with burglary, assault, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

He is currently being held in the Bullitt County Detention Center.
