SALEM, Ind. – Salem Speedway kicks-off its 65th season on Sunday afternoon, March 27th, with six different divisions sharing the new infield oval for the season opening “Short-Track Festival”.

Salem Speedway Pure Stocks and Front Wheel Drive Stocks, the FAST Series - Legend Cars, Bandoleros and Thunder Roadsters – and the IKO Mini Cups are set to share the track for a full slate of racing action.

This marks the first time that the quarter-mile track, which opened mid-season last year, has been featured exclusively for a Salem Speedway event.

“We’re anticipating a great afternoon of racing action as we showcase the new track and new divisions,” said Salem Speedway general manager Richard Deaton.

This will be the first Salem Speedway appearance for the Legends Cars, Bandoleros and Mini Cups.

The “Short-Track Festival” will feature the first point paying events for the Salem Speedway Pure Stocks and Front Wheel Drive Stocks.  Those two divisions ran an abbreviated season at Salem in 2010 with no points awarded or champions crowned.

Spectator gates open and practice begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m., with qualifications at 12:45 p.m., and the first race at 1:30 p.m. (EDT).

Advance tickets, priced at just $8 for adults and $3 for children (age 7-12), may be purchased by visiting the Salem Speedway office or by calling 812-883-6504 or toll free 1-888-246-7223.
