SHEPHERDSVILLE – For the first time in many years, visitors who wish to attend the monthly Bullitt County Public School Board meetings will have to change their calendars.

And, the public will have a second chance each month to see what their educational leaders are doing.

The school board recently opted to change from the traditional third Tuesday of each month to the fourth Monday, starting with the Feb. 25 meeting.

In addition, the starting time for the meetings will go from 6:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The board voted to begin hosting work sessions on the second Monday of each month, starting with the Feb. 11 meeting. Those will also start at 6 p.m.

The purpose is to allow board members to get more in-depth information. Currently, presentations make up a majority of the time board members spend at the business meeting.

Having heard about other district’s utilizing the work sessions, local officials opted to begin the practice in Bullitt County.

All meetings are open to the public and will be held at the central office unless noted.

Superintendent Keith Davis said the board would continue to host quarterly academic review meetings. This allows educators to talk about academic assessment figures and strategies being incorporated by the district.

Those meetings are also open to the public.
