HILLVIEW -- Unusually hot weather didn’t hinder Bullitt County’s inaugural Second Sunday health walk sponsored by the Bullitt County Cooperative Extension Service.

County Extension agent Ruth Chowning said 263 citizens registered and a few pets participated by walking or jogging along Old Preston Highway. There were skateboards, scooters, strollers and wagons.

Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell led the ceremonial first lap, joined by Bullitt County Judge/Executive Melanie Roberts, Hillview Mayor Jim Eadens and Bullitt County’s favorite four-legged celebrity, Woody the Kentucky Wiener.

Overdale Elementary won a challenge with Maryville Elementary on the number of Second Sunday participants. Overdale registered 65 members while Maryville had 45 sign up. Maryville physical education instructor Dennis Minnis will present Overdale instructor Chris Kenney with a trophy.
