Hillview Police officers recently assisted the waitstaff at Tumbleweed Restaurant, soliciting donations for Special Olympics in honor of its upcoming Polar Bear Plunge fundraiser.

Tumbleweed general manager Gina Huffstutler said all 30 locations hopes to reach a goal of $936, earning over $28,000 for Special Olympics.

During the evening proceeds from every Polar Bear dessert, priced at $2.99, went toward the charity. On other nights a dollar from the desserts is donated, Huffstutler said.

Hillview Police collect a grand total of over $500, with long-time officer Roy Raines collecting $121.

Tumbeweed is hosting two more similar events in friendly competition style, with Zoneton firefighters assisted on Jan. 24 and Mt. Washington firefighters visiting on Jan. 31. Volunteers will be at the restaurant each night between 5-8 p.m.

The restaurant is located at 380 Brenton Way in Hillview.
