ASHLAND - The Bullitt East Chargers hit the road on Saturday for a trip to Ashland and the long bus trip didn’t have any negative effect on Charger sophomore guard Tyler Sharpe as he exploded for 45 points as the red and gold bombed Boyd County 91-77.
Sharpe connected on seven three-pointers in the win.
“Boyd County had a hard time containing him,” Bullitt East head coach Bob Blackburn said later. “Plus, his teammates did a nice job of finding him.”
Bullitt East got off the bus ready to go. The Chargers raced out to a 23-15 lead after one quarter and never looked back. The red and gold pushed that lead to 50-36 at halftime.
The two teams ended up each scoring 41 points in the second half.
Besides the 45 points from Sharpe, the Chargers also got 11 points from Brandon Klefot and 10 from Ezra Troutman.
The Chargers will close out the regular season on Thursday when they play host to top-20 Elizabethtown.
