SHEPHERDSVILLE – Law enforcement officials pledge to protect the public.
But there are times in life when those law enforcement officials need a little protection of their own.
Bullitt County sheriff David Greenwell has sought permission from fiscal court to create a merit system for his deputies.
Merit systems protect employees during an election cycle but the plan also still gives the sheriff the power to fire employees.
It would provide a means to appeal the action to a board.
