HILLVIEW – The moral of the story is that if you are doing something wrong, don’t sit in a parking lot at any Hillview establishments.
For the second time in a month, an observant police officer noticed something strange in a parking lot, which led to an arrest.
Early last Tuesday morning, Hillview Maj. Ken Straughn said a police officer was driving through the McDonald’s parking lot off East Blue Lick Road.
On his trip through, the officer noticed a car and the male driver looked odd.
When the car left the parking lot, the officer realized the vehicle was reported stolen.
The car was stopped but then took off, leading the officer through Brenton Way, which is home to places such as Cracker Barrel, Burger King and three hotels.
The 16-year-old juvenile then got back onto John Harper Highway which led to Brooks Hill Road.
Straughn said the officer slowed his pursuit but the juvenile driver continued at a high rate of speed, finally driving into a ditch and rolling over.
No one was hurt.
The driver was charged with four counts of wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving and two counts of assault on a police officer.
Hillview was assisted by the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office.
