Schools today face a greater financial need and one individual is stepping up to help.
Stevie Ogle owns SO Contracting Mechanical and Plumbing and he and his wife, Stacy who serves as company president, have donated thousands of dollars over the past few years for programs at Cedar Grove and Lebanon Junction Elementary Schools, Bernheim Middle School and Bullitt Central High School.
“I just want to give back to the community,” he said.
Ogle has a successful contracting business in Bullitt and Hardin Counties and decided a few years back to help some of the schools he attended.
His most recent donations include $1,000 each to the Family Resource Centers of Cedar Grove and Lebanon Junction Elementary Schools.
“It’s a good feeling because I know it helps the kids,” Ogle said.
School FRC Coordinator Tammy Perdew said Ogle’s generosity helped initiate an art program at Lebanon Junction.
“Stevie has been very, very generous to Cedar Grove and LJ,” she said. “Without his support, there would not be an art program for students at LJ.”
At Cedar Grove, Perdew said the money will be utilized for student programs throughout the current school year and will help offset the cost of summer camps. Mr. Ogle also gave the Family Resource Center at Lebanon Junction $1000.00 in September for their afterschool Art Camp which has 80 students registered.
Ogle recently donated $1,500 so Bernheim Middle School staff could purchase folding chairs.
He has also given the boys and girls athletic programs at Bullitt Central $3,000 apiece over the years.
“My business is doing well,” Ogle said. “I am thankful to be in a position to do this.”
Bullitt County Public Schools has nearly 13,000 students in grades kindergarten through 12. There are 25 school facilities, a certified staff of over 850 and a classified staff of over 850 working every school day to make the district the leader in educational excellence.
