SHEPHERDSVILLE - A man sentenced to 20 years in prison for the murder of his father is seeking a new trial.
Richard Earl Thomas III is seeking a new trial based on errors made by his previous legal counsel.
Bullitt Circuit Judge Rodney Burress heard testimony on the request. He will soon issue a ruling.
David Bullock, the public defender now representing Thomas, said there were key issues not addressed and objections not made at trial.
His key witness was Rebecca Murrell, the public defender who represented Thomas at trial.
