SALEM, IN – One exciting night of racing and family entertainment is set to take place on Saturday evening at Salem Speedway Fueled by the Hoosier Lottery.

The Casey’s General Store Spring Speed Fest presented by Salem True Value Hardware features racing on both the half-mile high banks and the quarter-mile infield oval.  The night of racing action will be topped off with a gigantic post-race fireworks show presented in part by Washington County lodging.

“This event has something for everyone,” said Salem Speedway general manager Richard Deaton.  “It’s a night of family-fun topped off with a huge fireworks show.”

The Hoosier Lottery will also be a part of the fun and festivities with lottery ticket giveaways throughout the evening.

The Lucas Oil Great American Stocks and open wheel Thunder Roadsters are set to headline the racing action on the half-mile high banks, while the O’Reilly Auto Parts Pure Stocks and Portland Recycling Front Wheel Drive Stocks will provide the short-track action.

The Birdseye, Ind., driver, who started on the inside of the second row due to the invert, finished second to two-time defending series champion, David Bayens of Memphis, Ind., in the season opening race.

With the victory, Bayens passed John Collins as the all-time leader in career Great Amercian Stock wins at Salem with 19 to his credit.

Bayens enters the second race of the season with a one-point lead (103-102) over Bayer in the season standings.

Todd Kempf of Huntingburg, Ind., Kyle Hadley of Louisville and Mike Sharp of Cox’s Creek, Ky., rounded out the top five in the 21 car field on April 28th.

Travis Rogers of Charlestown, Ind., and Austin Baum of Shepherdsville, Ky., lead the point standings in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Pure Stock and Portland Recycling Front Wheel Drive Stock divisions heading into Saturday night action.

Rogers won the season opening Pure Stock race and Jake McFelea of Pekin, Ind., won the Front Wheel Drive feature on the same afternoon.

Mike Kestler, Greg Smith, Ethan Dunn and Joseph Hillebrand round out the top five in the Pure Stock Standings, while McFelea, Chris Maynard, James Blanchard and Jason Adams fill positions two through five in the Front Wheel Drive Standings.
