Free meals will be available each weekday beginning Monday, June 4th through Friday, July 20th. The only date that meals will not be served is Wednesday, July 4th.

The Pioneer News will again publish all times, locations and weekly menus each Monday.

The Bullitt County Public School website will also post the weekly lunch menus.

New SFP Coordinator Stephanie Norris looks forward to healthy participation in 2012.

“It was a great success in the past because we had sites throughout every end of the county,” she said. “Lots of families ate lunch with us every day.”

Norris said “returning visitors are a key ingredient in the program’s sustainability.”

“Families trust that they will receive a fine, free, delicious, nutritious meal,” she said. “The menu is geared toward nutritious meals that kids enjoy eating such items as Bosco sticks, nacho chips, various sandwiches, uncrustables and yogurt.”

Milk (either white or chocolate) is served each day at each site along with fruits and vegetables which vary daily.

“The program is open to any child who visits a site,” Norris said. “It is not based on income.”

Adults may purchase a meal for $3.50.

Also participating in the program will be various churches, school reading programs and summer camps.

Norris encourages first-time visitors to stop in at any site and have lunch.

If your church or nonprofit organization would like to participate, please contact Stephanie at the central office at 869-8052.
