Taco Bell/Pizza Hut Express Short-Track Festival rescheduled for Apr. 22

 SALEM, Ind. – Morning rain and extremely wet grounds forced postponement of the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut Express Short-Track Festival originally scheduled for Apr. 1 at Salem Speedway.

The season opening event has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 22nd.  The O’Reilly Auto Parts Pure Stocks and Portland Recycling Front Wheel Drive Stocks are set to headline the Short-Track Festival.  Due to a schedule conflict the FAST Series divisions – Legends Cars, Bandoleros and Thunder Roadsters – are unable to be a part of the rescheduled event.

Open practice session set for Salem Speedway high banks oval on Saturday

The first open test session of the season on the Salem Speedway high banks oval is set for this Saturday afternoon.

The practice session, scheduled from noon to 3 p.m., is open to the Lucas Oil Great American Stocks and any other traveling series scheduled to race on the half-mile track during the 2012 season.  Pit gates open at 10 a.m.

Spectators are invited to view the activities from the grandstand area at no charge.  Pit passes are $20 each.

Over 45 Lucas Oil Great American Stock teams have pre-registered for the 2012 season that begins with the “Ford Drive-One 50” as a prelude to the ARCA 200 on April 29th.

Will Kimmel among the first to file an entry for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200

Will Kimmel of Sellersburg, Ind., is among the first to file an entry for the upcoming Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 at Salem Speedway.

The third generation driver, who finished third in the season opening Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona, led 79 laps and finished a strong second to Chris Buescher in the 2011 ARCA Fall Classic at Salem.

Kimmel, a former Salem Speedway late model champion, is set to drive the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers Ford entered by his father, Bill Kimmel Jr.
