On Saturday, January 15, Bullitt East High School archery team hosted an invitational tournament. This was a very large undertaking and required the help of many parents and volunteers. Special thanks to Coach Cindy Allen for her numerous hours of preparation in addition to a very long tournament day as well as thanks to Assistant Coach Kevin Gabbert for his many hours of instruction for the team and all his help with this tournament.
Special appreciation is also for Mark Allen for his ceaseless assistance in repairing equipment, transporting items and long hours on the shooting range. Thanks also to Ms. Atherton and Mr. Blackburn for their continuous support of this wonderful program. The number of individuals it took to achieve this large event is too numerous to thank them all individually. It never would have been possible without all of your help and the archery team members are very lucky to have such wonderful support.
It took a lot of generous sponsors to make this successful. Our new KFC in Mount Washington helped provide food, in addition to continued support from Arbys, GFS, Mark Allen Transportation, McDonalds, and Valu-Market. Community support such as this is one of the many reasons we can be proud to call Mount Washington home. Thanks also to Charlie Long for his assistance in procuring these donations.
To all the schools that attended this tournament, we thank you. I hope that everyone enjoyed themselves and got valuable experience they can use to get ready for Regionals and beyond.
The Bulitt East archery team members should be congratulated for their first place team award. Also congratulations to Meagan Allen and Justin Bagby for their first place individual awards and to Josh Milburn for this third place individual award. The entire team should be proud of the way they hosted this event. I heard many compliments from numerous other school coaches and parents as to how well the BE team members conducted themselves in hosting this tournament.
Best of wishes to all the archers, their coaches, families and fans.
