As a very tough 2009 comes to a close, it is time for our community to come together like it always does in a time of need.

The economy has been tough and unemployment has risen above 10 percent for the past year. Many others who are employed have experienced reduced hours or pay freezes.

During this holiday season, many more will be seeking a little bit of assistance. It is time for all of us who have dug so deep in the past to dig a little deeper.

There are many organizations who are assisting others during the  holidays. It is isn’t hard to locate an agency trying to  help others. From Operation Santa in Hillview to the Shepherdsville Food Basket program to the Lebanon Junction ministries to the Mount Washington ministries, there are plenty of agencies working hard. Angel Tree promotions are in various areas and in various businesses.

Church groups are always helping the community. And the Salvation Army is also looking for someone to put a few coins in the kettle.

Bullitt Countians shine in a time of need. This holiday season, there will be plenty of opportunities to shine brightly.
