Today's Kids open second location

            SHEPHERDSVILLE - Today's Kids Childcare and Learning Center has offered a lot to tomorrow's future over the past eight years.

            The local program features group interaction, child-directed pre-school education and opportunities to play and be happy.

            How could they offer more services to its clientele? How about a second facility, with 24-hour childcare availability.

            Owner Tammy Ott said the second Today's Kids location at 155 Lees Valley Road would be staffed accordingly to offer services around the clock on weekdays.

            "There has been such a need," she said. "It's for second and third shifts. People just work more non-traditional hours. It only makes sense to offer a safe place at night."

            Ott discussed the idea with all of her Today's Kids employees prior to making her decision.

            "They all wanted to do it," she said. "I'm very fortunate to have such a wonderful staff. They worked weekends getting (the new facility) ready."

            Ott mentioned that all Today's Kids employees promote a drug-free facility with each employee subject to random drug testing. All staffers are CPR and First Aid trained as well.

            "That's important to me," said Ott. "I know it's important to my parents. We want to offer a place where parents can feel safe leaving their kids."

            Both Today's Kids locations feature security systems and surveillance cameras.

            Each facility includes an air filtration system, allowing children to spend their time in an ecosystem designed to kill germs before being spread.

            Today's Kids are subject to educational opportunities at a pre-school level. Ott said Spanish and sign language are among the subjects taught.

            Both facilities will continue to supply children with meals, playground areas and time in both large and small groups.

            "Our new center is an extension of the quality offered at our other center," Ott said.
