NICHOLS - There was little impact on Bullitt Countians when a freight train traveling on CSX tracks along the Ohio River and Dixie Highway derailed early Monday morning.
Jefferson County hazardous material personnel responded to the scene around 6 a.m. on Monday. About a dozen rail cars traveling to Louisville from Paducah were derailed and concerns over escaping chemicals caused the evacuation of an area along Katherine Station Road and Abbotts Beach Road.
