Local trio shines in annual All-Star game

LOUISVILLE - A trio of Bullitt County players took part Saturday in The Kentucky High School Basketball Coaches Association East/West Junior All-Star Game at Bellarmine University.

The game matched some of the top seniors-to-be from the Fifth and Sixth Regions against their counterparts from the Seventh and Eighth Regions.

In the girls’ game, North Bullitt players Rachel Badgett and Megan Goeing got the call to start the third quarter as their West team went on a 25-7 run that reversed a 29-28 halftime deficit.

The West team went on to win the game 69-58.

Badgett finished with four points while Goeing collected three points.

In the boys’ game, Bullitt East’s Tyler Bacon got to showcase his talents against some of the best teams in the area. Bacon did not score in the game, but did have several rebounds. The 6-9 Bacon had to battle inside with 6-10 Ray Spalding of Trinity and 6-8 Trey Moses of Eastern.

Bacon’s West team won the game 100-93.

Former North Bullitt head coach Amber Courtney coached the West team in the girls’ game. Courtney was actually representing North Bullitt in the game despite the fact that she recently took the head coaching position at Bardstown, a Fifth Region team.
