HILLVIEW - A woman was shot Saturday afternoon and the alleged suspect was later found dead.
Louisville Metro Police, as well as units from various Bullitt County law enforcement departments, responded to the Wal-Mart, which is located in southern Jefferson County, just north of the Bullitt County line.
When police arrived, a 46-year-old woman was found dead.
According to LMP spokesperson Carey Klain, the victim died of a single gunshot wound.
It appeared she had been shopping at the local store and was loading items into her car.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The first call came to dispatchers just after noon on Saturday.
The man who allegedly shot the woman fled the scene.
A vehicle matching the same description was later found at McNeeley Lake, off Mount Washington Road, just a couple of miles from the shopping center.
When police arrived at that scene, they found a 44-year-old man dead.
The man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound near the riding stables, according to police.
With the investigation continuing, police have not released the names of either the man or woman.
While it could have been a domestic dispute, police have not released any relationship between the two individuals.
As police collected evidence at the scene, Wal-Mart closed for several hours on Saturday.
By later that evening, it had resumed its normal operations.
At one point, Bullitt County dispatch received a call of a possible sighting of the individual off Zoneton Road. However, it was later determined that the alleged suspect was found off Mount Washington Road.
