MOUNT WASHINGTON - Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you’re looking for a way to show your sweetheart and the community some love, the Mount Washington Historical Society has just the thing.

On Sunday, Feb. 12, Kettle Creek restaurant will host the fourth annual Valentine’s fundraiser luncheon benefiting the historical society and Lloyd House Museum.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to treat your valentine to a nice meal and help the community we all love so much,” said historical society president Greg Hilbert.

Mount Washington Main Street program manager and historical society member Dale Salmon said the event has become one of the organization’s biggest annual fundraisers and one folks have come to look forward to.

“It just gets better every year,” Salmon said.

Last year’s luncheon brought more than $500, which was applied toward the restoration of the Lloyd House Museum, one of only two buildings in Mount Washington listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Hilbert said that while the home on Old Bardstown Road has undergone extensive renovations in recent years, there is still much left to do.

Proceeds from this year’s Valentine’s fundraiser will be used for excavation work and roof repair.

Hilbert said all donations are appreciated and he invites everyone to enjoy some good food for a good cause.

On behalf of the historical society, Hilbert wished to thank Kettle Creek owners Joshua and Lynn Spaulding for their generosity in hosting the annual Valentine’s fundraiser.

“We couldn’t do it without their help,” Hilbert said. “They’re just great.”

The Mt. Washington Historical Society’s Valentine’s fundraiser luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Kettle Creek, 1150 N. Bardstown Road.

Dinner includes an entrée, choice of two sides, a drink and dessert. Prices are $12 for those 12 and older and $8 for children under 12. A portion of the proceeds will go to the restaurant and the rest to the historical society.

There will also be a raffle for a gift basket. Raffle tickets can be purchased during the luncheon for $1.
