MOUNT WASHINGTON - The Visual Artists of Bullitt County’s second annual All-Member Show was recently held at Citizens Union Bank in Mount Washington where artists joined folks from throughout the county for a special reception and awards show.

The more than 100 attendees enjoyed light hors d’oeuvre catered by Mount Washington eatery Gourmet at Main while sipping Bullitt County wines and perusing 29 pieces by 18 local artists.

In addition to sponsoring the reception, CUB served as a public gallery for the pieces during the month of July.

The bank also purchased Mount Washington artist Sharon Milliner’s painting “Hay Rake,” which placed first in the show.

“We know there’s a lot of local talent,” said CUB vice president Chris Williams. “I just thought it would be a nice event to host.”

While Milliner’s watercolor placed first, Jan Rawlins’ oil painting “Barbaro” placed second and Gail Bagwell’s pastel “At the Races” placed third. Local artists Cindy Rayhill and Patsy Karr received honorable mentions.

It was the second show for the Visual Artists of Bullitt County, which is a division of the Bullitt County Arts Council. The first show was held last year at the Ridgway Memorial Library in Shepherdsville.

Since then the visual artists group has grown to 24 members, which is twice the membership it had last year.

Milliner, who is an active member of the visual artists, called the event a tremendous success, adding that the group hopes to have many more shows in the future.

The Visual Artists of Bullitt County meets the fourth Monday of every month at the Ridgeway Memorial Library during the months of March through October.
