LOUISVILLE – A Mount Washington man is in serious condition at University of Louisville Hospital after a Saturday afternoon collision that took place on the Gene Snyder Freeway near Taylorsville Road.

Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman, Dwight Mitchell, said Jeff Carver, 47, was transported by ambulance to University of Louisville Hospital with life threatening injuries shortly after the accident occurred around 4 p.m. Saturday.

Mitchell said Carver appeared to be headed north on the Snyder when his car struck the rear of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was stalled in traffic due to construction in the area.

Carver’s vehicle then evidently swerved toward the median before striking a cable barrier.

Mitchell said no one was in the vehicle with Carver at the time of the crash, adding that the driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries.

As of Monday, a University Hospital nurse reported Carver’s condition as “serious,” but gave no additional information.

Carver, a veteran broadcaster and former president of local cellular and paging sales and service provider Carver Communications, serves as director of First Baptist Church of Mount Washington’s WFBR 95.3 FM Christian radio station. Carver is also general manager of 678Sports.com, which provides high school sports webcasting throughout Greater Louisville.
