HILLVIEW - No one was injured Thursday afternoon as a school bus carrying students from Maryville Elementary was struck by a car.

According to Det. Scotty McGaha, sheriff's deputy Brandon Gwynn responded to a call around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday in the vicinity of North Triangle Lane.

A car struck the back of the bus and then fled.

Hillview officer Mike Murdoch later located the fleeing driver.

Cynthia Denise Elmore, 41, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of an open alcoholic container.

She was released on a $1,000 bond and will return to Bullitt District Court on Feb. 26.

In a message sent out to Maryville parents, principal Sam Cowan said that six students were on the bus but none were injured. The bus was not damaged and the driver was able to continue with the delivery of the children to their homes.
