MOUNT WASHINGTON - Bullitt East senior baseball standout Zack McCarthy recently announced that he has committed to John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois.

John A. Logan College is a junior college with a long history of baseball success under head coach Jerry Halstead. The Volunteers have won nine conference titles, six Region 24 championships and made two national tournament appearances. Fourteen former players at the school are currently playing professional baseball with four competing in the major leagues.

John A. Logan has a number of Kentucky players on its roster including two players from Hardin County.

McCarthy will sign with the school later this spring. The senior can still be drafted as last week representatives from the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau and the Los Angeles Dodgers watched a Bullitt East game along with coaches from St. Catharine, Morehead State and Western Kentucky University.
