  • Bullitt Library System to host ARTfest during March, April

     SHEPHERDSVILLE -- Spring is right around the corner which means so is the second annual ARTfest.

    The theme for this year’s art showcase is “Reimagined Favorites.”

    The library staff is asking patrons to recreate the cover of one of their favorite books. 

    Any Bullitt County Public Library card holder may participate and this year it’s open to all ages: kindergarten through fifth grade; middle school; high school and adults.

    Submissions will be displayed at the Ridgway Memorial Library in April.

  • The Mole Hunter just part of annual Home, Garden and Remodeling weekend show

     LOUISVILLE -- The Home, Garden & Remodeling Show, presented by Window World will offer incredible seminars throughout the Show weekend, Feb. 27 through March 1 in the South Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center. 

    Each ticket includes access to the seminars offered on the day of the visit, which are filled with helpful information delivered in a fun, interactive manner.

    Throughout the weekend Jeff Wallitsch, Wallitsch Garden Center, will teach about gardening on a budget, as well as container gardening. 

  • VALENTINE RECORD

     There was an overflowing crowd at the annual Valentine Gala, which benefits the Bullitt and Spencer County service centers of the American Red Cross.

    With the Wulfe Brothers again providing music, the dance flows was filled throughout the night. There was over 500 who attended the annual fund-raiser.

  • Reconciliation helps to unite Bullitt community

    SHEPHERDSVILLE - There were smiles, hugs and handshakes all around, proving the Day of Healing Through Prayer and Reconciliation to be a success.

    The event was hosted by the Bullitt County Ministerial Association at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre, designed as an opportunity for area leaders and residents to meet and get along for the betterment of the community.

    Event organizer Randy Pace introduced an All-Star group of volunteer singers from all three county high schools as a combined performance choir.

  • Healthy Heart luncheon brings awareness, knowledge

     When February rolls around, people usually always have love on the brain. But some often forget to consider the health of their heart first.

    February is also American Heart Month and continuing with the tradition the Bullitt County Health Department will sponsor the Healthy Hearts Wear Red luncheon Thursday, Feb. 26.

    “Heart disease is one of the silent killers,” said Liz McGuire, Bullitt County Health Department health education coordinator.  “A lot of people don’t know they have issues until something happens.”

  • Coalition meets Tuesday to discuss future

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - There are many community members who have wanted to help the homelessness crisis in Bullitt County over the years.

    There is no emergency homeless shelter facility in the county. There is The Shepherd’s Shelter, Inc. that tries to assist in a long-term way to obtain self-sustainability.

    There is no crisis food emergency cafeteria, although groups such as Martie’s Kitchen and Two Fish Ministries offer weekly meals.

  • Gathering Thursday offers chance to unite

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - There have been moments where the community appears to be divided.

    Whether it’s during election time, or if it’s involving business such as the Southeast Bullitt Fire Department and Board of Trustees, or whether it’s just disagreements at city council meetings.

    Randy Pace has noticed it. As pastor of the Family Worship Center, as a Christian, and as a Bullitt Countian, it’s a heavy burden.

  • Murder mystery dinner set for February 13

     SHEPHERDSSVILLE -- Looking for an alternative to the traditional dinner and a movie on Valentine’s Day?

    The Bullitt County Arts Council can help with that.

    On Friday, Feb. 13, they will be a sponsoring a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater night, “Thirteen Deadly Reasons.”

    It will be held at Rivers Edge Event & Venue Resource at 416 S. Buckman St. from 6:30 to 10 p.m.

  • Valentine Gala tickets on sale; basket tickets available

     The American Red Cross in Bullitt and Spencer counties will host their annual Valentine Gala on Saturday, Feb. 14.

    The 17th annual event at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre will include music by Wulfe Pack.

    Tickets are $55 per person or $110 per couple. A table of eight is available for $440.

    Cocktails begin at 7 p.m. with dinner at 8 p.m. featuring music by Hans Sander.

    The dance runs from 9 p.m. until midnight. The Wulfe Pack will perform.

  • Home Product Expo this weekend at Paroquet Springs

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - The fifth annual Home Product Expo, presented by Window World and partnering with The Courier Journal, The Hawk and Q103.1, will take place this weekend Jan. 17-18 at the Paroquet Springs Conference Centre in Shepherdsville.
