 HEBRON ESTATES - Every May in Bullitt County people unite for a special evening of recognition.

In its 18th year, the Bullitt County Relay for Life will celebrate local cancer survivors while raising funds for cancer research. The annual event is scheduled for Friday, May 18, 7 p.m., at North Bullitt High School.

Relay chairperson Sherry Lee said an increase in participating teams and members was a sign that one of Bullitt County's biggest events remained as strong as ever.

 The National Day of Prayer is held on the first Thursday of each May. In Bullitt County, the Shepherdsville City Park was the site of the annual observance.

The theme this year centered around the youth and guest ministers during the ceremony were youth ministers at area churches.
