  • It takes a lot of guts...

     Sixteen contestants donned dresses and took the stage Saturday to help raise funds and awareness about domestic violence.

    The men competed for a top prize of $300 and 12 will be on a calendar.

    Saturday’s community awareness day for domestic violence was a big success.

    To cap off the day of activities was the Ugliest Girl Contest. Men from throughout the county dressed up and took the stage.

    Mike Smothers won the $300 first prize thanks to Zappos. Eric Butler was second and Brian James finished third.

  • Contest promises to be tastiest of all planned for Old Fashion Days

                Calling all bakers: It’s time to preheat your ovens, put on your aprons and get ready for the third annual Lebanon Junction Old Fashion Days Festival Bake-Off.

                Bake-off organizer and Old Fashion Days Committee member Marsha Puckett said that if the past two years’ winners are indication of what goodies will be judged on Friday, the event is sure to attract some of the tastiest confections in the city.

  • Pageants return to be part of Old Fashion Days Festival Saturday

                While most have grown accustomed to seeing the Lebanon Junction Old Fashion Days Festival pageant take place the week before the festival, the Old Fashion Days Committee has decided to switch things up this year.

                The 2011 Old Fashion Days pageant will be held this Saturday, Oct. 8 beginning at 2 p.m. and will take place under the entertainment tent in front of the Lebanon Junction Community Center on N. Poplar Street.
