  • Veteran's Day 2011

     Major Tim Starke didn’t think he would get to attend the annual Overdale Elementary Veteran’s Day salute.

    However, his unit returned home recently and Starke was once again a major part of the school celebration.

    But on Friday, his son, Ben, a preschool student at Overdale, also played a role. Wife and mom, Heidi, is a teacher at the school.

  • World Diabetes Day

     Bullitt County Judge/Executive Melanie Roberts proclaimed Monday, Nov. 14, as World Diabetes Day in Bullitt County.

    She was joined by Jessica Craddock, who is the leader of the local efforts as part of the KIPDA Rural Diabetes Coalition.

    The entire month is observed as Diabetes Awareness Month and supporters are encouraged to wear blue each Friday in November.

    The next diabetes coalition meeting will be on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the health department. The meeting will include a holiday recipe exchange.

  • A Night at the Chamber

    The Bullitt County Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual awards dinner. Several members were honored during the event.

  • TAPP hosts Halloween

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - The littlest trick-or-treaters of them all gathered together for their first halloween party.

    The Riverview Opportunities Center Teenage Parenting Program (TAPP) hosted its 12th annual party for students and families.

    This year's group featured eight current TAPP babies in costume.

    Other TAPP students that are still expecting assisted with serving punch and treats.

  • Three fire departments to host community treats

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - Zoneton Fire Department has been the community place to go for kids on Halloween the past few years.

  • Annual Farm Bureau meeting a success

     The 2011 annual meeting of the Bullitt County Farm Bureau was held Saturday evening, September 17 at the Bullitt County Extension Office on Halls Lane in Shepherdsville.

  • Veterans Day BBQ Blast at MW Center

     The Mount Washington AARP Chapter will host a Veterans Day BBQ Blast on Friday, Nov. 11, at the Ralph Lutes Senior Citizens Center in Mount Washington.

  • The sweet sounds of Colorfest 2011

     Dylan Ferris, 8, of Louisville, spent some time Saturday playing a musical instrument while taking part in the annual Colorfest celebration at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest.

    The two-day event draws thousands to see the beautiful colors and the many family activities on the grounds.
