• Longest day provides lot of time to have host of physical activities

                SHEPHERDSVILLE - The Summer Solstice provides the longest amount of daylight for the Earth's Northern Hemisphere, and the Bullitt County Coalition for Recreation, Education and Wellness (CREW) took advantage of it.

                The extra daylight was the primary reason for The Longest Day of Play, an outdoor fun community event held at Shepherdsville City Park.

     BERNHEIM - Stefanie Elizabeth Stillwell knew that there were a lot of beautiful girls she was competing against on Monday night as the Miss Bullitt County Fair Pageant kicked off the annual week long summer festival.

  • Just fishin’

     Despite a cool breeze, nothing could stop youngsters and their families from a free day of fishing.

    The annual Kids Fishing Day was hosted by Bernheim Forest and sponsored by the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Department, the Bullitt County Rod and Gun Club and Beam, Inc.

    Free youth fishing days were sponsored throughout Kentucky.

    There were plenty of door prizes and food for the participants.

     CLERMONT - Don’t let the recent fair weather confuse you: It’s really time for the Bullitt County Fair.

  • Hillview City Fair set June 7-9

     HILLVIEW - It's been an amazing experience this year for organizers of the Hillview City Fair, set for June 7-9.

    Sponsors are coming out of the woodwork to help make the Hillview City Fair a successful, family event.

    Harlan  Compton, a member of the Zoneton Trowel Club, a part of the Zoneton Masonic Lodge, said that businesses have really gotten on board in its second year of organizing the event.


     The American Legion Post 157 in Shepherdsville hosted its annual Memorial Day observance on Monday in the front lawn of the Bullitt County Courthouse.

    The morning ceremony was filled with song, prayer and a lot of flags.

  • Arts Council hosting a memorable awareness event

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - As part of its ongoing campaign to raise awareness and membership, the Bullitt County Arts Council selected Memorial Day weekend to celebrate what it offers to the community.

    The BCAC visual arts showcase and concert takes place Saturday, May 26, at Shepherdsville City Park.

  • RELAY FOR LIFE...Friday at North Bullitt High

     HEBRON ESTATES - Every May in Bullitt County people unite for a special evening of recognition.

    In its 18th year, the Bullitt County Relay for Life will celebrate local cancer survivors while raising funds for cancer research. The annual event is scheduled for Friday, May 18, 7 p.m., at North Bullitt High School.

    Relay chairperson Sherry Lee said an increase in participating teams and members was a sign that one of Bullitt County's biggest events remained as strong as ever.


     This accident was no accident at North Bullitt High School.

    It was part of the annual staged presentation to seniors to show the dangers of making bad decisions.

    The Day of Shattered Dreams included a very moving memorial service for one of the "victims."

     The National Day of Prayer is held on the first Thursday of each May. In Bullitt County, the Shepherdsville City Park was the site of the annual observance.

    The theme this year centered around the youth and guest ministers during the ceremony were youth ministers at area churches.
