  • Partners want to bring events, entertainment of community

          SHEPHERDSVILLE - Looking at things that Bullitt County might be lacking, Scott Kendall said that having a place to bring various forms of entertainment to the area seemed to fit that description.

         While looking around the area, Kendall and partners, Tonya and Mike Roberts, found a place that would suit their needs.

         R & R Auctions and Events was born.

         The business occupies over 12,000 square feet on Highway 44, just east of KOA Kampground.

  • Citizens invited to help prepare for emergencies

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - In the wake of Sept. 11, 2001, President George W. Bush announced a new initiative to engage local volunteers to strengthen public health, emergency response and community resiliency.

    As this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Medical Reserve Corps, Bullitt County Health Department preparedness Coordinator Don Renn hopes to see a more active, vibrant and engaged MRC chapter in Bullitt County and he's inviting everyone with a desire to serve to get onboard.

  • A day of music and art

     The annual ShepherdsFest drew in another large crowd of people interested in Christian music and art.

    The day-long event held on the grounds of Cedar Grove Baptist Church featured a number of activities.

    A car show was hosted at the festival, as well as a full day of music, including the Reggae band Stoney Ridge.

    A petting zoo was joined by an arts show, as well as cheerleading displays be Cheer Bling and games such as cornhole and a fish pond.

  • Young Farmers planting big plans for area

     HILLVIEW - Dozens gathered at Young and Robards Farm in northern Bullitt County for a day of special events for the Young Farmer's brand new fundraising effort. 

    The day began with an appreciation breakfast for politicians. Special guests included U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie, State Rep. Linda Belcher, Bullitt Circuit Clerk Layne Abell and Bullitt Deputy Judge/Executive Lisa Craddock.

    Following the breakfast, guests took a tour of the 400-acre farm, which produces corn, wheat, soybean and cattle.

  • Bluegrass 101 9th annual Bluegrass Festival

      The Ninth annual Bluegrass 101 Bluegrass Festival was held last Saturday at the Bullitt County Fairgrounds.

    The host group, Bluegrass 101, was busy playing tunes early on Saturday afternoon.

    Mary and Eric Day from Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, attended the festival.

  • ‘Hot’ day cools turnout for Tea party

     SHEPHERDSVILLE – It was more than 100 degrees outside, but that didn’t stop more than 100 people from gathering at Shepherdsville’s First Street Park for the Voices of Independence-Bullitt County Tea Party rally.

    The recently held event boasted a live band, vendors and political booths, with a variety of speakers, including 84WHAS radio personality Mandy Connell, who served as master of ceremonies.
