• Kidsfest family fun set for this Saturday

     SHEPHERDSVILLE - Springtime in Bullitt County means leaves on trees, flowers blooming in fields, and hopefully winter coats in closets.

    It also means time for the big event kids wait for each and every year, the annual KidsFest presented by the Bullitt County Chamber of Commerce.

    The 2016 version takes place Saturday, March. 12, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre.

    Chamber director Alex Wimsatt said the number of booths has increased from last year. Even more important, this year’s KidsFest will once again be a free event.

  • Paroquet Springs hosts bridal fair this Sunday

     SHEPHERDSVILLE — Soon-to-be brides can alleviate the headache of wedding planning by attending the Something Blue Bridal Show this Sunday.

    According to Paroquet Springs Conference Centre Executive Director Vicki Downing, over 30 vendors will be set up for the event, showcasing their best cake, photography, limousine, floral and catering skills.

    “Most vendors will have special prices just for those in attendance,” Downing said.

    Samples of wedding cake, food and a special Blanc de Bleu champagne will be offered to visitors.

  • Healthy Hearts Wear RED

     SHEPHERDSVILLE-- Bullitt County cares about their hearts.

    For the first time in its nine-year reign, the Healthy Hearts Wear Red Luncheon sold all 300 seats a week and a half before the event.

    The annual event brings local organizations to Paroquet Springs Conference Centre, including the American Heart Association, Bullitt County Extension Homemakers, Bullitt County Health Department, Bullitt County YMCA, CareSource, KentuckyOne Health and Mended Hearts Kentuckiana Chapter 11.

     It was another big crowd on Saturday as the American Red Cross hosts its Valentine Gala at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre.

    The Wulfe Brothers were joined by Sherry Edwards on stage for a night of singing and dancing.

  • Tractor Supply to help local FFA chapters Feb. 19-28

     National FFA Week starts Feb. 20 and runs through Feb. 27.

    To help celebrate this week, Tractor Supply is doing a paper emblem program. 

    In order to support the Bullitt East FFA Chapter, as well as other local groups like the Bullitt Central FFA chapter, Tractor Supply in Hillview is holding a fund-raiser.

    All you have to do is go to your local Tractor Supply store and at the checkout there will be a paper FFA emblem that costs $1 during  Feb. 19-28.

  • Event to promote healthy heart lifestyles

      SHEPHERDSVILLE - This year health officials want you to look inside your own heart by first looking inside theirs.

     In the past nine years heart disease has remained one of the top causes of death in Bullitt County and throughout the country.

     It’s the primary reason the Bullitt County Heath Department continues efforts to raise awareness about the disease, helping to host the ninth annual Healthy Hearts Wear Red Luncheon at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre.

  • Home Product Expo

     Once again this January, the Building Industry Association of Greater Louisville hosted the Home Product Expo at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre.

    Dozens of vendors were present to offer advice on Saturday and Sunday on home repairs, landscaping and just about anything else involving your residence. This included an appearance by the Bullitt County Area Technology Center.

  • Shepherdsville Post Office Decorate the Dog House Contest Winners

    The Shepherdsville Post Office celebrated the holiday season with a special Decorate the Dog House contest.

    Thanks to the second grade students at Freedom Elementary and at Roby Elementary for their participation in the program. 

    The winning artists were: first place, Emma Bolt, Freedom; 2. Cali Kemper, Roby; 3. Summer Tackett, Roby; 4. Lilly Miller, Freedom; Honorable mention: Clair of Freedom, Charles Blake, Layla Singer and Jaylyn Basham, all of Roby.

  • Home Product Expo returns to Shepherdsville on Jan. 30-31

      SHEPHERDSVILLE -- The Home Product Expo presented by L&N Federal Credit Union will take place at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre in Shepherdsville on Jan. 30-31, bringing the region’s home building and remodeling professionals to Bullitt County and jumpstarting the home improvement season.

  • Valentine Gala tickets, chances on sale

     The American Red Cross in Bullitt and Spencer counties will host their annual Valentine Gala on Saturday, Feb. 13.

    The event at Paroquet Springs Conference Centre will include music by Wulfe Pack.

    Corporate sponsors this year include Citizens Union Bank, Derby Fire and Safety and Publishers Printing Co.

    Tickets are $60 per person or $120 per couple. A table of eight is available for $480.

    Cocktails begin at 7 p.m. with dinner at 8 p.m. featuring music by Hans Sander.
